TWO ARRESTED, ONE HOSPITALIZED, AFTER YUCCA VALLEY STABBING

Two men were arrested, and a third was hospitalized, following a fight and stabbing in Yucca Valley Sunday evening. According to Sheriff’s Sergeant Derek Garvin, about 5:20 p.m., Demietreas Phillips, 33, of Yucca Valley, and Bryan Olson, 28, of Palm Springs, went to a home in the 7100 block of Barberry. The men started arguing and then fighting with Ricky Doremus, and during the fight, Phillips pulled out a knife and slashed Doremus across the chest. Phillips and Olson then fled. Deputies located Demietreas Phillips a few doors away, and he was arrested for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000. Bryan Olson was arrested on suspicion of assault, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, cited and released. Ricky Doremus was taken to a local hospital. Garvin said a report will be forwarded to the district attorney’s office for possible charges against Doremus.
