Two Twentynine Palms men have been charged with attempted murder in last weekend’s brawl in Twentynine Palms in which a Marine was seriously injured, and other residents have been arrested on lesser charges. Sheriff’s investigators said a party had been held in the 73800 block of Sun Valley Drive Saturday night. Shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday, a fight broke out between two groups of men at the party, one group, armed with a tire iron and baseball bat, chased the other group down Ocotillo Avenue. The armed men confronted the victim and several others, not part of the group being chased, in the 6000 block of Ocotillo Avenue. The victim was hit over the head with a tire iron, and stabbed in the right chest. The unidentified victim was taken to Desert Hospital with serious injuries and released. In the days following the brawl, deputies have arrested three people on various charges, including Davon Felton, 20, on outstanding warrants and for investigation of violating a restraining order. Thursday afternoon, Davon Felton, still in custody, was booked for attempted murder. The second man arrested Thursday for investigation of attempted murder is David Felton, 20. Bail for Davon Felton and David Felton is set at $1 million each. In addition, Krystle Edwards, 27, was arrested on suspicion of burglary and possession of stolen property, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with bail set at $25,000. Christine Brown, 18, was booked into the jail Sunday for obstruction, and Melvin Peters, 23, was arrested Sunday for several outstanding warrants. The Sheriff’s Department stresses that neither race nor any other outside issue has been identified as a factor in the assault. Anyone with information about the assault should call Detective Marcel Silva at 760-366-4175.
