TWO AREA NATIONAL MONUMENTS ESCAPE CUTS, ONE MAY SEE A USE CHANGE

Two national monuments in our immediate area look to be safe from changes from Washington D.C., but one faces a use change. Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke isn’t recommending any changes to Sand to Snow or Mojave Trails, two national monuments in our California desert that were established by then-President Obama. But Zinke’s review of 27 national monuments, released to the public Tuesday, hints at allowing hunting in Castle Mountains National Monument, East of Twentynine Palms between the Mojave National Preserve and the Nevada border.
