Two Yucca Valley residents were arrested Wednesday, accused of stealing a car, and then brandishing a fake gun when they were confronted over the theft. About 2 a.m. Wednesday, deputies say Isaiah Robinson, 19, stole a 2007 Ford Mustang from the 73900 block of Two Mile Road in Twentynine Palms. Robinson drove the car to Walmart in Yucca Valley and left it as he fled on foot to his home in the 7000 block of Emerson Avenue. The victim’s friends identified Robinson as the car thief, and confronted him at his home.
Robinson and his girlfriend, Jessicalyn Steffler, 20, came out of the house carrying weapons. Robinson pointed a gun—which was later determined to be fake—at the victims. Steffler swung a baseball bat at them multiple times.
Deputies performed a search warrant at Robinson’s home and found several fake guns as well as the baseball bat used in the assault. The stolen vehicle was also recovered and returned to the owner. Isaiah Robinson and Jessicalyn Steffler were arrested for investigation of vehicle theft and assault with a deadly weapon, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with their bail set at $50,000.
