TWO ACCUSED IN MAJOR VANDALISM TO YUCCA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL

A juvenile and a Yucca Valley man were arrested Tuesday, accused of vandalizing Yucca Valley High School at least four times over nine months. According to Sheriff’s Deputy Shaunna Ables, three males broke into the school grounds after 10 p.m. on June 12 and June 22, 2015, and February 26 and March 12, 2016. During each intrusion, the suspects destroyed video surveillance cameras, punctured walls with a metal rod, destroyed a wireless antenna, broke outdoor lights, and ripped decals off the walls. The total cost of the vandalism is about $6,000. After the March vandalism, Ables identified one of the suspects responsible for all four incidents as Shaun Watkins, 21, as well as a 15-year-old boy from Morongo Valley. Shaun Watkins was arrested for investigation of felony vandalism, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $25,000.
