The 29 Palms High School Track team sent two student-athletes to the CIF Preliminary meet at Carpinteria High School Saturday (June 5). They traveled up to Santa Barbara County to compete in Division IV, where they were one of only 11 other public schools out of 98 schools, competing against a large dominant private school field. Junior hurdler Mya Bullion ran a 300m hurdles time of 52.34, just over her personal record, and placed 14th overall. N’Taiya Youso, also a junior, advanced to CIF finals in her final throw of the day. She scratched her first two throws: the first out of sector, the second was a foot fault. Facing elimination, she threw an 85’2″ to earn ninth place and qualify for the Finals meet next week.
