At yesterday’s meeting, the board re-elected President Carol Giannini, and Vice-president Suzi Horn, and retained General Manager Ray Kolisz as board secretary. The board also adopted a routine policy authorizing annual investments, directed staff to explore an opt-out policy for the city’s automated meter program, accepted a new rate study proposal by city contractor NBS, and passed an ordinance which will better align water district policies with statewide shut-off mandates. The board also heard recommendations from an ad hoc committee concerning several fee increases; the committee recommended the fee increases to more accurately reflect actual costs incurred by the water district for a variety related services, many of which had not been changed in years. The board authorized staff to begin the process of revising the fees.

Finally, in addition to routine departmental reports on maintenance, water quality and finances, General Manager Ray Kolisz reported that the ongoing installation of the automated meter program is currently under budget.
