Does Twentynine Palms need yet another tattoo parlor? That is what the City’s Planning Commission will consider tonight. Reporter David Haldane takes a closer look…
The Twentynine Palms Planning Commission will hold a public hearing tonight on whether to allow a new tattoo parlor on the 3600 block of Adobe Road. If approved, the Outlasting Tattoo Studio—on the same block as a Domino’s Pizza, Subway sandwich shop and the Department of Motor Vehicles—would be the ninth in a city of only 29,000. That would bring the per capita number of tattoo parlors to .55 per 1,000 residents, one of the highest in the country.
At issue: whether so many tattoo parlors are a plus or a minus given the adverse reactions some residents have to them and the potential impact on the city’s image.
The hearing is set to begin 6 p.m. at City Hall on Adobe Road.
