TWENTYNINE PALMS WOMAN TO BE HONORED FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE

A Twentynine Palms woman will be honored Monday, November 12, for her service to the community. Geneva Walters moved to Twentynine Palms in 1971 with her late husband John, a former Marine of 22 ½ years. Together they raised five children. The Walters volunteered with the Boy Scouts, Red Cross, and the Church of Latter-Day Saints. They also taught CPR and first aid classes, and served on disaster relief efforts, including the 1992 Landers earthquake. Geneva Walters will receive a Quilt of Honor during a small ceremony at 2 p.m. November 12 at the Twentynine Palms Church of Latter-Day Saints on El Paseo Drive. The public is invited to attend.
