Twentynine Palms woman struck by reversing car, driver arrested for suspected assault

A man was arrested after allegedly driving a car backwards and into a woman in Twentynine Palms.
Early Wednesday (October 1) at around 4:00 a.m., San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of an assault with deadly weapon in the 5900 block of Aztec Avenue in Twentynine Palms. Deputies said that the suspect, Dominick Garcia, 26, was arguing with his girlfriend at the home. Witnesses at the scene said that after the argument, Garcia began driving a vehicle in reverse with the doors open. A witness said that one of the doors struck the victim, knocking her to the ground. Deputies said the victim sustained injuries on her face, wrist, and elbow, but did not request medical treatment. Deputies contacted Garcia a few hours later in the 6600 block of Mariposa Avenue where he was taken into custody.
Dominick Garcia was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and is being held at the West Valley Detention Center on $40,000 bail.
