An argument Tuesday over a “tone of voice” escalated and resulted in the arrest of a Twentynine Palms woman for felony spouse abuse. Shortly before 6 p.m., police were called to a home in the 73900 block of Two Mile Road because neighbors heard a couple screaming and a possible assault. When the deputy arrived at the front door, he was greeted by Jessenia Santiago, 19, who said she and her husband were arguing over her tone of voice. While Santiago was talking with the deputy, her husband came up behind her and gave her a tight hug. Santiago continued her argument with her husband and the deputy saw her push him away by his face. Because her husband had scratches on his face, Jessenia Santiago was arrested for investigation of felony spouse abuse, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with her bail set at $50,000.
