TWENTYNINE PALMS WOMAN ARRESTED AS AN ACCESSORY TO ARSON

A Twentynine Palms woman who refused to turn in her boyfriend to law enforcement was arrested Tuesday, accused of being an accessory to arson. According to a Sheriff’s report, firefighters responded to a car fire last Friday, November 3, about 9 a.m. near Adobe Road and Amboy Road in Twentynine Palms. Firefighters determined the fire was arson, and notified Sheriff’s deputies. A man and woman at the location were recognized, but the man fled before deputies arrived. Deputies told the woman, later identified as Brittany Phillips, 22, to contact them if she saw the man again. About 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, a deputy went to the woman’s house in the 72300 block of Old Dale Road and told her once again to contact law enforcement if she saw him. The deputy returned to the home about noon and saw both Phillips and the suspect in the front yard; the man fled. Brittany Phillips was arrested for investigation of being an accessory to arson, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with her bail set at $25,000.
