A Twentynine Palms woman was arrested Wednesday afternoon, after a gate guard at the Marine Corps Combat Center said she hit him with her vehicle. According to a Sheriff’s report, Michelle Anders, 47, went to the main gate of the base on Adobe Road about 9 a.m. Military police officers told deputies that Anders gave them forged paperwork in order to access the base. The gate guards refused to allow her on the base. The Sheriff’s report states that Anders then drove to the Ocotillo Gate where the gate sentry questioned why she wanted to get on the base. Anders refused to pull over to have her paperwork verified. She then allegedly drove her Ford F1-150 truck in a U-turn around the gate guard shack and attempted to leave the base. A military officer attempted to stop her by standing in the outbound lane and ordered her to stop, but Anders allegedly accelerated and drove through the exit, causing the gate guard to jump out of the way of the truck. As Anders’ truck passed the sentry, the driver’s side mirror struck the guard’s shoulder, causing minor injury. Deputy Scott Andrews was able to identify Anders based on the paperwork still in the gate sentry’s possession. Andrews located Michelle Anders at a home in the 74500 block of Serrano Drive in Twentynine Palms about 5:40 p.m. where she was arrested for investigation of assault on a law enforcement officer, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, and released on $50,000 bail.
