A Twentynine Palms woman was arrested Tuesday evening, accused of slashing her son with a knife. According to a Sheriff’s report, a deputy was called to the 72800 block of Sun Valley Drive in Twentynine Palms shortly before 8 p.m. concerning a domestic disturbance. Adena Sowell, 41, started arguing with her son, saying that he was disrespectful of his sisters. Sowell grabbed a shovel, and when her son took it away from her, she went into the kitchen and grabbed a knife. Sowell then swung the knife at her son, who sustained cuts on his chin, his right arm, and his elbow. Her son was taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. Adena Sowell was arrested for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with her bail set at $50,000.
