TWENTYNINE PALMS WOMAN ACCUSED OF PASSING OF COUNTERFEIT MONEY

A Twentynine Palms woman was arrested Monday, accused of passing funny money. According to a Sheriff’s report, a woman entered the 7-11 convenience store on Highway 62 in Twentynine Palms about 7:10 a.m. Monday morning. The store clerk told a deputy later that the woman, later identified as Destiney Allen, 24, paid for merchandise with a $100 bill. Deputy Ryan Arthurton was called to the store about 3 p.m. when the C-note was discovered to be counterfeit. Arthurton identified Allen as a possible suspect, and went to a home in the 6400 block of Cholla Avenue in Twentynine Palms where he learned that Allen went to the store with the intent to pay for merchandise with the counterfeit bill. Destiney Allen was arrested for investigation of forgery and commercial burglary, booked into West Valley Detention Center, with her bail set at $25,000.
