A Twentynine Palms woman was accused of felony spouse abuse and child abuse Wednesday following a fight with her girlfriend and her son. According to a Sheriff’s report, a deputy was called to the 6700 block of Saladin Avenue in Twentynine Palms about 3:40 p.m. Beverly Austin 45, was arguing with her roommate over car keys. The girlfriend said Austin grabbed her purse and phone and threw them to the ground. She then allegedly began shoving the other woman multiple times. The victim’s son heard the altercation and came out to try and break it up. The woman and her son said Austin then punched the son in the face, and he defended himself by punching Austin. When his mother tried to separate them, she said Austin bit her on her left tricep. Austin then grabbed the keys and left the scene. After an investigation, Beverly Austin was arrested on suspicion of child cruelty with possible injury and inflicting corporal injuries on a spouse or cohabitant, booked into West Valley Detention Center, with her bail set at $100,000.
