At this week’s track meet, the Twentynine Palms Wildcats were swept by Coachella Valley High School with a final score of 4 – 0 but Twentynine Palms wasn’t without highlights.
The girls were led by Aviana Lipkins, sophomore hurdler. Lipkins won the 300m hurdles with a time of 55.1 and placed 2nd in the 100m hurdles with a 19.5 personal record.
Elisabeth Marshall, senior team captain, placed second earning personal records in both her events: 1600m (6:25.2), 800m (2:56.5).
Senior distance runner Josh Corrado was the top performing Varsity Wildcat. He earned a 1st place finish in the 1600m (5:05.0) and 2nd place in the 800m (2:16.9).
The outstanding JV performance was given by William Sumption, sophomore distance runner who won both his events and ran 2 personal records: 1600m (5:38.2), 800m (2:37.1).
Next week the Wildcats will host the Desert Hot Springs Golden Eagles then travel to Azusa Pacific University for the distance meet of champions.
