TWENTYNINE PALMS WATER DISTRICT TO SPLIT CELL PHONE TOWER RENT WITH FIRE DEPARTMENT

Last night, Z107.7 news reporter Taylor Thacker was at the Twentynine Palms Water District Board of Directors regular monthly meeting. She reports that the three winners of the “Save Water” children’s poster contest were announced. Third place went to Devin Burkins, second place went to Kristen Dunphy, and first place went to Javier Oyola with a clever poster stating “Be a Water Cyclist.” His poster pictured a drawn bicycle wheel with the water cycle on the inside. On the fire department side, the board motioned to split cell tower revenue received by the Water District in half between Water District and Fire Department funds. This way, both departments are getting equal share. The Fire Department service report stated that in the month of April there were 179 calls for help. Fire Chief Jim Thompson said the Fire Department will have a booth set up at the Twentynine Palms Chamber of Commerce car show June 1 to share information as to why the Lear Avenue Fire Station is closing. Questions will be welcome.
