TWENTYNINE PALMS WATER BOARD ADJUSTS ELECTIONS, GETS FIRE STATISTICS

0

At the Twentynine Palms Water District meeting last night, the board took little action. Reporter Taylor Thacker said the board voted to change mail ballot elections to polls. The cycle on which years they hold the elections was also changed to even years. This will save costs because the Water District can split the cost of polling places with other public agencies also holding elections. On the Fire Department side, during the month of December, there were 188 calls for assistance. The total calls for help for the year of 2013 were 2,230. After the shutdown of the Lear Station, response times to outer parts of the city have increased, but response times to inner parts of the city have stayed the same and decreased if they were back-to-back calls.
