Twentynine Palms Varsity Ladycats rally against Big Bear with victory in 3 sets

The Twentynine Palms Ladycats volleyball team went up the mountain last night (August 22) to face off with the Bears of Big Bear High School.

JV came up short 15-25 and 17-25. Lily Romero had two kills. Mariah Coriarmenta and Arabella Staggs each had one kill.
It was an action packed night for the varsity team.

After losing the first two sets 22-25 and 21-25, the cats found their groove and won an exciting third game 28-26. The cats kept pushing through and won the fourth set 25-23. In the fifth and final set, the cats come out with an exceptional win of 15-11 over the Bears.

Senior Jenica Silvas was huge at the net with 17 kills, two blocks and offensively nine assists and three ace serves. Sophomore VIvian Grunt put down eight kills, served up six ace serves and had two assists. Senior Jayde James was also big at the net with two solo blocks, one assisted block, and one kill. Freshman Eva Tili had two kills, one solo block, one assisted block and one ace serve. Senior Violet Tucker had two kills, one ace serve and one block. Sophomore Seniyah Hawkins had two kills and two assists. Junior Cambria Schnieder had four assists for the cats. Sophomore Berlyn McCormick and Freshman Leilani Stratton played solid defense.
