Two Twentynine Palms men were arrested early Monday morning following a routine traffic stop. About 3:30 a.m., a deputy pulled over a car with a missing license plate near Adobe and Two Mile Roads. In the car were Francisco Nunez, 38, and Gilbert Gonzales, 26. A records check determined that Gonzales was a felon, convicted in 2012 of burglary, and arrested last month for transporting a controlled substance. Gilbert Gonzales was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of ammunition, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $35,000. Francisco Nunez has a long history with law enforcement; he was taken into custody for violating the terms of his parole, and is being held at the West Valley Detention Center with no bail.
