TWENTYNINE PALMS TRACK TEAM COMPETES IN CIF PRELIMS

The Twentynine Palms High School track and field team traveled to Carpinteria High School on Saturday to compete in the CIF Divisional Preliminaries. 

A total of six athletes will advance to the finals held at El Camino College in Torrance. Each has a strong chance to achieve All-CIF.

The boys’ 4×100-meter relay featuring Jeremiah Kirk, Johnnie Smith, Jonathan Carson, and Brandon Benton earned sixth place with a time of 44.34. 

Jonathan Carson also earned a ninth place finish in the 100-meter with a time of 11.27 and seventh place in the 200-meter with a personal record of 22.45.

Two-time All-CIF competitor Adam Mapuatuli qualified in both of his events finishing with a personal record of 49’11.75 in the shot put, good for third place, and 136’06 in the discus good for fourth place. The lone Lady Wildcat advancing to finals is Shaniah Newby. She finished fifth in the 100-meters with a time of 12.68 and eighth in the 200 meters with a time of 25.58.
