TWENTYNINE PALMS TRACK AND FIELD TEAMS FALL TO BANNING

In Twentynine Palms High School track and field, the Wildcats fell in a nail-biter to Banning yesterday (May 19) by a score of boys 54-44 and girls 54-50. Coach Ronda Lockett-Morton said despite the result there were many highlights for the Wildcats on their senior sendoff meet.

The Wildcats thanked the seven seniors:  Mariah Banerjee, John Cook, Roberto Gutierrez, Brandon Kilpatrick, Chante` Moody, Matthew Ornelaz-Perez, Jayriah Yazzie and gave them candy leis, a framed action photo from this season, and finally their senior posters.
Justin Harris led the boys, scoring 16.25 points including anchoring the winning 4×4 relay team and wins in the 400m, long jump, and triple jump.
Mya Bullion was the top girls scorer with 16 points including 3 first-place victories in the long jump, both hurdles, and a bronze in the discus.
The Wildcats will travel to Banning for their biggest meet of the season: the Desert Valley League finals where they will try to qualify for CIF.
