The Twentynine Palms High School swim teams traveled to meet the Trojans at Yucca Valley High School with the Wildcats winning the swim meet. Both girls’ teams went into the meet undefeated. The Twentynine Palms girls won 97 to 73, and the boys won 90 to 71.
Coach Michelle Minatree-Teo and Coach Irene Beard said they are so very proud of all the swimmers; it takes the entire team to win and this team worked hard and it showed as they are the undefeated Desert Valley League champions.
The Wildcats broke two Twentynine Palms High School records:
Aiden Sullivan broke the 50-yard freestyle and bettered his CIF consideration time with a time of 23.65.
The boy’s 200-yard free relay team of Will Kinitz, Colton Charles, Daviahn Thrasher, and Aiden Sullivan set a new record with a time of 1:42.84.
The following bettered their CIF consideration time:
Taylor Scamman in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:39.97.
Girls’ 200-yard free relay team of Madi Soster, Mary Carbiener, Pez Zuniga, and Taylor Scamman with a time of 1:55.34.
Girls’ 400-yard free relay team of Lea Speer, Jacqueline Ford, Mary Carbiener, and Pez Zuniga with a new time of 4:34.84.
Yucca Valley High School Trojan swim team coach Rebecca Pessa said both teams swam CIF consideration times, and had some excellent races. The Trojan boys’ team had a great meet, including Ryley Arrona’s first 200- yard individual medley. The final score was in favor of the Wildcats 90-71. The ladies finish second in league, and the boys third.
