The Twentynine Palms City Council wrapped up three days of strategic planning Thursday with a list of ten priorities for the coming year. At the top: proceeding with Project Phoenix, a multi-million dollar plan to dramatically revitalize the city’s commercial corridor along Highway 62.
Other items on the list included developing a sewer system, creating more infrastructure, expanding regional trails, establishing a veteran’s clinic, building a homeless shelter, improving street lighting and even sponsoring music and art festivals to make the city more attractive to tourists.

City Manager Frank Luckino expressed satisfaction at the high level of public participation in the planning process. “It was a good dialogue,” he said, “and the public was engaged.”
