A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Wednesday evening, accused of beating his girlfriend with a stick studded with nails. According to a Sheriff’s report, Alfred Espinosa, 28, of the 2600 block of Bagdad Highway, was arguing with his girlfriend about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, when he picked up a wooden stick that had small nails protruding from one end and hit her with it. The woman suffered swelling, bruising, and scratches to her right wrist and forearm. Espinosa had scratches to his face, which he told the deputy were self-inflicted because he was so angry. Alfred Espinosa was arrested for investigation of felony spouse abuse, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
