Marking another step toward the final vision, the City of Twentynine Palms announced a sizable federal investment in a proposed wastewater package treatment plant for Project Phoenix. Reporter Heather Clisby has the details…

The City of Twentynine Palms will receive a federal grant from the Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) intended for a key element in downtown redevelopment. The funding, which totals out at $1,675,680, will be matched by the city and put toward building a wastewater package treatment plant within the borders of Project Phoenix.

Anticipating a growth in visitors, the city will construct the plant to address substantial wastewater infrastructure needs. The city also expects the investment to increase business development and lead to the creation of local jobs.
