When the Twentynine Palms Rotary Club was approached by the Twentynine Palms High School girls’ basketball team about a donation to help with costs of transportation, practice and equipment, the Rotary club agreed, but with one condition: The girls would have to earn the support through community service, and the girls did not disappoint. The team made good on their promise by volunteering at the “Solar Challenge” in Twentynine Palms, serving meals, and helping with set up and clean-up for the event. On August 29, the Twentynine Palms Rotary Club handed a check to the team’s coach Deana Jo Garrett in the amount of $300. The funds will help lead the girls to a successful basketball season.
