At its meeting on April 17, the Twentynine Palms Rotary Club made a $1,000 donation to the Twentynine Palms Historical Society. The funds will aid the museum’s expansion project, including construction completion of a 2,222-square foot building and a 1,500-square foot multipurpose room and a warming kitchen.

Rotary President Gary Daigneault presents a $1,000 check to Nolan Lockwood of the Twentynine Palms Historical Society.

The multipurpose room will accommodate about 200 people in an auditorium configuration, or 100 people in a conference room configuration. The restrooms, catering kitchen, storage room, pantry, and associated halls will take up the remaining 722 square feet of space.

Located at 6760 National Park Drive, the 1920s-era schoolhouse is the oldest building still in use in the Morongo Basin and features artifacts and exhibits that illustrate early pioneer life in the high desert.

The Twentynine Palms Rotary Club meets Wednesdays at noon at the Little Church of the Desert meeting room, 6079 Adobe Road, in Twentynine Palms. For more info, call 760-366-8471.
