The Twentynine Palms Rotary Carnival, held in mid-March, set a fundraising record this year. Reporter Heather Clisby has the details…
The Rotary Club of Twentynine Palms hosted its annual fundraiser, the Rotary Spring Carnival, just a few weeks ago in Luckie Park. The resulting amount – just over $15,000 – broke previous carnival records.
The event’s success was attributed to good weather, strong promotion and solid family entertainment. Carnival Chairman Randy Councell later presented the check to the Rotary Club on March 27.
First chartered in 1948, the Twentynine Palms Rotary Club currently has 29 members. Living the mantra, “Service Above Self,” the Rotary prioritizes youth support, community service and homeless assistance. The service club is also behind the annual “Battle of the Ball” cross-Basin basketball game and the hugely popular Christmas Light Parade and Tree lighting in downtown Twentynine Palms.
The Twentynine Palms Rotary Club meets Wednesdays at noon at the Little Church of the Desert Meeting Hall on Adobe Road. For more information, call 760-366-8471.
