Two weeks ago, The Rotary Club of Twentynine Palms hosted eleven Swedish Rotarians from Rotary District 2360 as part of California Rotary District 5330’s “Friendship Exchange”, a unique international exchange program that allows Rotary members and friends to take turns hosting one another in their homes and clubs. Reporter Andrew Dieleman tells where the Swedish Friendship Exchange guests went during their visit to the Morongo Basin…
The “Friendship Exchange” Swedish guests arrived on Tuesday, October 8, and were taken by the Twentynine Palms hosts to be greeted by the Yucca Valley Sunset Rotary Club. The guests toured the Yucca Valley Performing Arts Center and received a private tour of Gubler Orchids. On Wednesday, October 9, the guests toured Joshua Tree National Park with Park Superintendent David Smith and on Thursday, October 10, they received a comprehensive tour of the Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center. The Swedish visitors left the Morongo Basin on Friday, October 11, to continue their journey of international understanding and camaraderie.
Visit organizer and host Sandy Smith of the Twentynine Palms Rotary Club thanked all the Morongo Basin Rotarians for making this a great experience for the Swedish visitors.
