Twentynine Palms residence fire being investigated as arson

A fire on Thursday (July 11) in Twentynine Palms is being investigated as arson. At around 4:45 a.m., engines from County Fire responded to a structure fire in the 62000 block of Valle Vista Rd. in Twentynine Palms.

Crews arrived to find a house and two vehicles on fire, and County Fire was joined by units from the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center. The fire was knocked down and crews were able to limit the damage to the home. No injuries were reported.

Additional information released by the Sheriff’s department over the weekend indicates that a person was illegally squatting on the property. The unidentified person said that he left the property briefly, and returned to find that the house and two cars were on fire, and that the house had been vandalized with graffiti.

he Sheriff’s department indicated that the fire was set “intentionally.”

No arrests have yet been made.
