Twentynine Palms putting animal shelter and parks as top priorities

On a recent episode of the Z107.7 Up Close Show, host Gary Daigneault spoke with representatives from the City of Twentynine Palms about the future of the city. Mayor and council member Steve Bilderain and recently hired City Manager Stone James discussed their plans for the city via the city’s strategic plan.

The animal shelter is the city’s priority at the moment but, Mayor Bilderain said he would like to focus on parks next.

“Pioneer Park is just below the animal shelter on our list of priorities,” he said. Pioneer Park is planned for the area near Sullivan Road and Adobe Road, near Theatre 29. “We already own most of the property except for one small sliver.”

James added, “The City Council has impressed this issue upon me, which is economic growth. How do we increase jobs, how do we increase revenue. What are the little things we can do that will elevate the community.”
