TWENTYNINE PALMS PLANNING COMMISSION TO HEAR REQUEST FOR ALCOHOL SALES AT A MOTEL

The Twentynine Palms Planning Commission meets tonight with booze on its mind. Reporter David Haldane explains…
Should guests at the Circle C Lodge be allowed to buy alcohol on the premises?
That’s the question facing the Twentynine Palms Planning Commission tonight as it holds a public hearing on the request by the 12-room motel in the 6300 block of El Rey Avenue. In addition to serving spirits to its patrons, the motel’s owners would like to make minor modifications—specifically a block wall for privacy—as well as convert a single-family dwelling on the property to a commercial residence, including kitchen facilities for long-term guests.
The staff’s recommendation is to say yea to everything.
Tonight’s meeting gets underway 5 p.m. at City Hall on Adobe Road.
