TWENTYNINE PALMS PLANNING COMMISSION TO CONSIDER LIQUOR LICENSE FOR DOLLAR GENERAL

The Twentynine Palms Dollar General currently sells beer and wine. Up before tonight’s planning commission, the commissioners will determine whether to expand the alcoholic beverage license to include other kinds of liquor as well. Reporter David Haldane has the details…
Residents of Twentynine Palms may soon be able to get hard liquor at their local Dollar General. Currently they can buy beer and wine at the store on the 72000 block of Twentynine Palms Highway near Datura Avenue. At its regular meeting tonight, however, the city’s Planning Commission will consider whether to expand the store’s alcoholic beverage license to include other kinds of liquor as well.
Even if it does, of course, the booze will still have to be consumed off site rather than at the store itself. Currently the Dollar General holds one of four off-site liquor licenses issued in its immediate area.
Tonight’s meeting gets underway 6 p.m. at City Hall on Adobe Road.
