Cargo containers are on tonight’s Twentynine Palms Planning Commission agenda. Again. Reporter David Haldane explains…
It seems like a case of déjà vu. At the top of the agenda for tonight’s meeting of the Twentynine Palms Planning Commission is a public hearing. Specifically, it’s about whether to allow Vista del Sol, a multi-family residential development on Two-Mile Road, to use several seagoing containers as accessory structures for storage. That’s all fine and good, except that it’s the third time the item, originally scheduled to be heard on February 21, has appeared on the agenda.
This time around, though, something new has been added; a separate hearing on whether to modify the city’s development code to allow public places of worship. Apparently, both they and the aforementioned cargo containers were inadvertently omitted from the code adopted last year. Corrective action will presumably reduce the number of future public hearings required.
Tonight’s meeting gets underway 5 p.m. at City Hall on Adobe Road.
