The Twentynine Palms Planning Commission meets tonight with just one thing in mind: The release of a comprehensive update and replacement of the city’s entire development code.
Among other things, according to staff, the new amended code allows for more streamlined development reviews, provides improved direction to project applicants, implements required changes in local ordinances and addresses the city’s changing building environment in a logical and organized way.
The proposed code emerged from more than 40 workshops held since 2013 as well as the efforts of a Working Group that’s met regularly since last July. Tonight’s release kicks off a 60-day public review and comment period culminating in hearings before the Planning Commission and City Council.
