TWENTYNINE PALMS PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING SHORT AND SWEET

Without the usual development code study session, the Twentynine Palms Planning Commission was short and sweet. Dan Stork says it was limited to discussion of a permit application, and what they should do at the next meeting…

After Rob Fleck was sworn in a planning commissioner, the Commission considered two pieces of business. A Conditional Use Permit was approved for the Desert Congregational Church for construction of a storage building and a foyer, with a waiver of the application fee for the permit, contingent upon determination of how much of the approved work had been included in the original CUP granted in 2000. The vote was 3-2, due to disagreement over the contingency. Then the Commission selected several chapters of the development code revision to be forwarded to the City Council for review in a joint session, at a to-be-determined date. Before that joint session, the Commission will review the changes it has already composed, with an eye to being sure they are consistent with the city’s General Plan.
