Twentynine Palms Planning Commission meet on Tuesday to study zoning and land use expiration dates

The Twentynine Palms Planning Commission will hold their regular meeting on Tuesday January 20th 2026 at 5:00 p.m.
The Commissioners will consider land use approval expiration dates. As it is not always known exactly when a business closes its doors, it is often unclear when the land use approval expires. Right now the land use approval is considered expired when the business license expires. The Commission will discuss whether this needs to be changed.
The Commission will also study consolidating some districts which are currently very similar in size and/or development standards. Notably the Rural Living 2.5 acre RL zoning will be compared to the Residential Family 2.5 acre minimum RS-E zoning as they are very similar in most ways. The Commission will study whether these and other zoning districts can be consolidated or whether they should remain as they are.
Located at 6136 Adobe Road in Twentynine Palms, the meeting begins at 5:00 p.m.
