Drivers traversing Twentynine Palms may soon be able to stop for a quick cup of joe. Reporter David Haldane explains…
Twentynine Palms may soon be getting a Starbucks.
In fact, it’s the first public hearing on the agenda of tonight’s meeting of the city’s Planning Commission. Specifically, a Newport Beach developer is proposing to build the 1,800-square-foot drive-thru coffee shop on a vacant lot at the northwest corner of Highway 62 and Adobe Road. Among other things, the potential builder is seeking a variance from normal landscaping requirements to allow the sidewalk to be reduced or removed and the building set back from the street.
Other items on the agenda include public hearings on the proposed construction of a new cellular tower on Wildcat Way and a propane storage facility off Adobe Road.
Tonight’s meeting gets underway 5 p.m. at City Hall on Adobe Road.
