TWENTYNINE PALMS PLANNING COMMISSION APPROVES CELL TOWER, PROJECT PHOENIX UPDATE

At last night’s meeting, the Twentynine Palms Planning Commission voted unanimously to approve the installation of a 49.5 foot wireless tower on the property at 73747 Amboy Road. The tower will be designed to appear as a water tower with the City logo incorporated on the side. The proposal was approved with an added provision that ongoing maintenance of the city logo would be included.

Community Development Director Travis Clark further reported that with the funding for Project Phoenix approved, designs will proceed in cooperation with local tribes and the National Park. Also the Route 62 sidewalk improvements have begun and should be completed in 8 weeks, a $900,000 grant was recently submitted for work on the Channel Trail (a half mile trail adjacent to the flood channel on the south side between Spit Rock Road and Adobe Road toward downtown that was washed out last year), and finally, new staff planner Diane Olsen was introduced to the commission.
