TWENTYNINE PALMS PLANNING COMMISSION APPROVES A NANO-BREWERY

This week, the Twentynine Palms Planning Commission gave the green light to the city’s first small brewery, a sign of many pints to come. Reporter Andrew Dieleman has details…

Earlier this week, the Planning Commission of Twentynine Palms gathered to discuss a number of items, namely the approval for a Conditional Use Permit for Joshua Tree Brewery, the city’s first small-batch brewery. Located at 5944 Adobe Road, the brewery will also include its own tasting room. No opening date has yet been announced.

Also approved at the meeting was a simple site plan amendment that increases capacity–from 10 beds to 16—at Desert Oasis Senior Living, an independent-living facility on Desert Queen Avenue.

The Commission also approved an upgraded ABC liquor license for The Cactus Bar, an iconic watering hole since the 1960s. Located in the city’s Historic Plaza, the bar has been operating under beer-and-wine-only license but can now offer a full bar selection.
