TWENTYNINE PALMS MAN THREATENS TO BLOW UP GIRLFRIEND WITH PROPANE TANK

A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Tuesday evening, accused of threatening to kill his girlfriend. According to a Sheriff’s report, Robert Hughes, 30, was arguing with his girlfriend in the 6500 block of Pine Avenue when he punched the woman in the head. The report states Hughes then turned on a propane tank and threatened to kill his girlfriend and himself. The woman fled and called 911. After an investigation, Robert Hughes was arrested for felony spouse abuse, and for making criminal threats, and for failing to register as an out-of-state sex offender. Hughes was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $50,000.
