TWENTYNINE PALMS MAN RAMS VEHICLE, FOUND WITH MILITARY SMOKE GRENADE

This story was corrected June 8, 2016.

A correction on a story we aired Tuesday about a man who was arrested Sunday morning when he was found with a military smoke grenade. James Baele, 40, was a friend of one of the roommates in a home in the 74400 block of Twilight Drive; Baele arrived after a man found his girlfriend with another man at the home. The boyfriend told deputies the other man punched him, not Baele, as we originally reported. As the victim was leaving the scene, Baele was arriving, and the two vehicles collided. The victim then left and told deputies that Baele was the suspect who hit his car. About 5:30 a.m., Baele left the home on Twilight and was stopped by deputies near Araby and Baseline Road. During the traffic stop, deputies discovered a military-grade smoke grenade. James Baele was arrested on suspicion of possession of an explosive, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, and released Sunday afternoon on $25,000 bail. Z107.7 News regrets the errors.
