A Twentynine Palms man was named to the governing board of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway Tuesday. Jeff Ohlfs, 56, was appointed to the Mount San Jacinto Winter Park Authority by California Governor Jerry Brown. Ohlfs has worked at Joshua Tree National Park for 26 years as a park ranger, district park ranger, and chief park ranger. He has also served with several other organizations, including the Twentynine Palms Historical Society, the Sheriff’s Morongo Basin Search and Rescue team, and the Boy Scouts of America. Ohlfs said the Palm Springs Tramway holds a special place in his heart as it was the site of one of the first dates with his wife.
