A motorcycle rider died following a crash in Twentynine Palms Friday morning. According to Sheriff’s Deputy Wayne Greer, witnesses reported the motorcycle rider–who has not yet been identified–doing wheelies and speeding southbound on Adobe Road about 11:50 a.m. As the rider approached Manana Drive on his gray 2008 Honda, Greer said he crashed into the rear of a black 2011 Ford Ranger pick-up truck, driven by Binh Van Vo, 68, of Twentynine Palms. The motorcycle rider was critically injured in the crash and was taken by Morongo Basin Ambulance to the Robert E. Bush Naval Hospital on board the Combat Center where he later died. Vo was not injured. Adobe Road was closed for several hours in both directions from Manana to Homestead while the Sheriff’s Department investigated. Greer said neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be a factor in the crash. The coroner’s office has not released the victim’s name yet.
