TWENTYNINE PALMS MAN HELD AFTER THREATENING TO KILL HIS WIFE

A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Wednesday, accused of threatening to kill his ex-wife. According to a Sheriff’s report, James “Wally” Fears, 55, was arguing with his ex-wife about paying rent for staying at the home they still shared in the 5400 block of Cahuilla Avenue about 3 p.m. The woman told deputies Fears grabbed a baseball bat and said he would kill her and her dog. Fears allegedly followed her into her bedroom and smashed a lamp with the bat, and told her if she called the police, he would kill her and bury her body in the desert. After an investigation, James “Wally” Fears was arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
