A Twentynine Palms man was injured after driving his Jeep off the top of a six-story parking garage in Santa Monica early Sunday morning. Authorities say the 20-year-old man, who has not been identified, drove his newer model Jeep off the top level of the public parking garage near the Santa Monica Pier shortly after midnight Sunday.
The Jeep landed against a McDonalds on the other side of the street. Two other people who had been inside the Jeep managed to jump out before it flew off the parking garage.
The driver was alert and conscious when firefighters arrived, but he suffered non-visible critical injuries and was taken to UCLA Westwood where he is in stable condition. It’s not known at this time if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
