A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Saturday afternoon after police say he hit his girlfriend in the jaw. According to a Sheriff’s report, paramedics who were called to a home in the 72200 block of Joshua Drive in Twentynine Palms about 1:10 Saturday determined that the female victim had been the victim of spousal abuse. According to a Sheriff’s report, Justin Smith, 27, got upset about something his girlfriend had said, so he backhanded her in the mouth, causing her jaw to be dislocated. Justin Smith was arrested for investigation of felony spouse abuse. He was booked at the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $50,000. His girlfriend was taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center for treatment.
