A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Friday after he removed his prosthetic leg and tried to hit a Sheriff’s deputy with it. Just after 5 p.m., a deputy was called to the intersection of Adobe Road and Play Vista Drive for a man who was lying in the road. The deputy could smell that the 49-year-old man had been drinking. When the deputy tried to talk to the suspect, he began cursing, and then removed his prosthetic leg and began swinging it at the deputy. The deputy was able to grab the leg from suspect and handcuffed him. The man was arrested for investigation of assault on a peace officer, but when he was booked into the West Valley Detention Center, it was for drunk and disorderly.
